Potency Testing

At Spartan Analytics, we utilize high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/DAD) to provide full cannabinoid profiling. Unlike gas chromatography, liquid chromatography does not heat the sample. HPLC is therefore still reliable when measuring heat sensitive compounds such as THCA and CBDA. Spartan quantitates CBD, CBDA, CBN, THC, d8-THC, CBC and THCA.

 

Pesticide Testing

Our pesticide test can detect trace amounts of chemical pesticides in dried flowers and cannabis concentrates. Pesticides are detected using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). We believe that cannabis providers should be able to verify the safety of their medicine. Our comprehensive screening is designed to produce rapid results and is consistent with the State of Oregon Guidlines, American Herbal Pharmacopoeia and international testing standards.

 

Residual Solvent Testing

Spartan Analytics performs a Residual Solvent Test to identify the presence of harmful solvents, impurities, and/or other added odorants and chemicals present in concentrated forms of cannabis. Increasingly, more patients are seeking out concentrated forms of Cannabis. (i.e dabs, hash oil, RSO, hemp oil, shatter, crumble, etc.) These types of concentrates are produced by using a solvent (such as butane, CO2, ethanol, propane, etc.) to extract cannabinoids and terpenoids from plant-material.

We use Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, Head-space analysis, to identify all of the most commonly used solvents and trace residues of chemicals in the process of extracting cannabinoids.

 

Terpene Analysis

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that endow cannabis with its unique scent. Terpene analysis is crucial for differentiating between strains of cannabis, as terpenes have a major influence on the medical and psychological effects of a plant.

Terpene analysis allows collectives and budtenders to customise treatment programs for their clients and optimize a strain’s pharmacological effects. At present, nearly all differences between popular cannabis strains result from variations in terpene profiles. However, terpenes not only modulate the effects of THC, CDB, and other cannabinoids, but they also possess medicinal values of their own. Spartan Analytics uses gas chromatography with flame ionized detection (FID) to test the most commonly found terpenes.

Result Reporting

For each tested sample, Spartan Analytics provides a detailed certificate of analysis. After a sample is processed, testing is typically completed in 5-10 business days, which is immediately followed by a certificate of Analysis, which is sent by email or can be accessed at your account on confidentcannabis.com. This allows our customers to quickly obtain the necessary documentation for their certified cannabis products.
